Born 1931

Shirley April Ann “Shirlann” Smith was born in Wichita, Kansas.  Smith earned a BFA from Kansas State Univ. in 1951, majoring in radio. She lived in Kansas City in the early 1950s working for KCMO radio, as well as modeling and working on industrial films.  Smith moved to New York in 1953, where she continued her modeling career and took acting lessons and eventually acted on Broadway and on television. Smith studied art in Provincetown, MA.
