Andrew Moore Biography

Born 1957

Andrew Moore creates mythic, large-format photographs.  An American, he has gained unprecedented access to sites in Vietnam, resulting in Rotunda, University of Hanoi, 2007, as well as places in Russia and Cuba.  His work has a heightened sense of stillness and presence, as he eschews the “coldness” of conceptualism.  Moore is a documentary filmmaker, winning the Sundance 2002 Special Jury Prize (with John Walker).  His work can be found in the public collections of the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.  Moore teaches, and has been an artist-in-residence, at Dartmouth College and Vassar College.
